Good Power Supply, Works with numerous External Hard Drives
By Scott Fisher
I purchased this power supply to replace one I couldn’t find for my external hard drive and it worked great. Wouldn’t you know, as soon as I received this substitute I found my basi power supply.
Though there are numerous external power supplies, even a lot of with respective voltages including 12 volts, galore were a bit short on the amperage they could supply. From what I read, 1.5 to 2 amps were required for an intermediate hard drive, so this supply would give more than sufficient current as needed. Many of the generic power furnishes were only ranked for amidst 500 milliamps and 1 amp. The problem is that if they are designed to supply less current than the device draws, they may burn out or perhaps cause difficultnesses with the device you plug them in to.
Of course, most times external hard drives vary in the adapters they use, but for the drives I have this power supply had the right specs and had the right connector to work. Getting a substitute from your primary drive manufacturer may be a hassle and will in all likelihood be more pricey than getting this one as a replacement.

Interferes with X-10 Home Automation System
By Lawrence Pina
The 12V DC, 5A power adapter on our AudioVox FPE2000 20″ TV/Computer monitor caused objectionable AM radio interference, so based on positive reviews here at amazon.com I ordered this one as a replacement:
0. I’m happy to report that this model does not interfere with AM radio.
1. Unfortunately, it does cause annoying diagonal interference lines on the TV screen (as if the tuner was overdriven). The dancing, diagonal lines run from the top right corner of the display to the lower left corner.
2. Also, while underneath load, this adapter wholly knocks out our X-10 Home Automation System. Remote controlled lamps and gadgets plainly will not turn on or off until you shut the TV off.
How do I recognise the Kinmax AC power adapter is at fault? Neither of these two sensations or changes occur when the same TV is powered off of a bench supply (which works perfectly). Neither of these two sensations or changes occur when the same TV is powered off of the original power adapter (which knocks out AM radio).
As a result, I only give it one star. It works, but not very well.

Works with Intel D945GSEJT mini-ITX mainboard
By Daniel Bond
I built my home server using a ‘mobile platform’ motherboard that requires only 12V DC. This Kinamax adapter replaces the kludged TFX power supply I was using. I was leery the 12V tip would not fit my board. It does. I wish I had purchased this sooner. Been using it for one hour. It’s hardly warm.
As of Jan-2011, the picture doesn’t rather match what I received. The picture shows an AC line cord with a ordinary big connector (IEC C13). The device I received has the littler notebook-style 2-wire AC cord (unpolarized C7 connector). I _much_ prefer the notebook-style cord; it’s slimmer and more manageable than the older cord–which was overkill. A happy client here.
