GN Netcom Phone Lifter
By Paul Brackley “DigiPix”
I’ve already substituted this item once. I love the headset but the lifter is weird. My second unit failed today … just like the firstborn one did: it just quit working. So I started to do exploration on Google related to difficultnesses with it. I likewise remembered seeing reviews on Amazon prior to our introductory buy so I came back and read the three that were already attached to this procuct. I was amazed at the July 2007 review that said GN Netcom tech support said to tap the unit on the side. I did and it worked! Needless to say, I laughed right out loud! Evidently a sensor inside the unit is poorly engineered so that each once in awhile it hits a dead spot. A little “bang” on the unit either wakes up the unit or gets the sensor off it is dead spot. Go figure. This item has been around for awhile too, so I’m amazed it hasn’t been reengineered. Sounds like an insert must be put with the operating instructions saying, “If unit stops working, bang it on it is side.”

Jabra Service on the GN 1000
By GymW
While I like the unit as it is disturb free and works well when it works, I do have an issue with Jabra’s repair policy on this unit when it is out of warranty. In my case the problem was plainly a broken wire in the connection cable. However Jabra refused to trade me a substitute cable. Instead after a number of holds and transfers on their client service lines they consorted to “fix” the unit for $35 which amounts to swapping the unit out for a working one. In addition to the $35 fix price I would need to pay for shipping and handling in both directions.
It was also difficult to get a price for the return shipping cost as they wanted me to give them a “blank check” by just enclosing a credit card number to bill versus with the final price unknown. That is not how I wish do business. They also refused to grant me to cross ship since they were replacing the product. Cross shipping is permitting me to ship the product back to them as they ship me the alternate with the credit card guaranteeing the return of the defective product. If they don’t received the faulty one back they charge the full price. That way They could have sent me a return label and I could have shipped the damaged product back in their box – a client and eco friendly procedure as this is easy for a client to do and the shipping materials are reused.
So given the costs of alternate and shipping I determined it was for less and posing no difficulty to just buy a new one from Amazon at their discounted price and toss the old one away. As such I am now tossing away a perfectly working item into the trash, other than a broken wire, because Jabra will not trade me a alternate cable and charges a price higher than the street price to repair it, when the cost of shipping is added. What a waste and what a medieval client service policy. Given their client service policies, I may determine not to buy any Jabra merchandise in the future. GN Netcom 1000 RHL Remote Handset Lifter

Only One Of Its Kind
By Doug M. Cummings
This is the only one of a kind I’ve found of this product. While I applaud the conception and use it regularly, I’ve had to order six of them in the past two years for the same phone. The Remote Answering Device isn’t hardy sufficient for long term use. It breaks and stops hanging up the phone properly.
