Not well made
By Christopher T. Dahle
A jumper is a jumper is a jumper, right? That’s what I thought and I am sure that the Hacktronics people thought the same. Sadly not.
One of my students purchased a bunch of these to go with her new Arduino and I without delay noticed that hers were a bit dissimilar than mine. The boots over the wire ends are round cylinders with a grip ridge at one end. Ideally this would make them having little impact to connect and disconnect without pulling on the wire and straining the connection amongst the wire and the pins.
Unfortunately, the boots are merely slip fit over the wires. They are not mechanically attached to the pins or the insulation and when you grasp the boot to disconnect them from a breadboard or device header, the boot pulls free of the pin and slides up the wire. You then have to yank on the wire itself to pull the pin out of the device. After three or four uses, the wire breaks free of the pin. Repairable, but most annoying.
True, these are cheap at regarding 7 cents each, and the contest is charging with regards to 30 cents per. But you do get what you compensate for.
Jumpers are very handy to have for prototyping and experimenting, but look for the type with square pin boots (actually they are Tyco AMPMODU Mod IV Connectors) that snap on to the pins.

Flexible Wire Jumpers Male-Male, 100 pcs
By Andrew Clausen
These are perfective for attaching an arduino to a solder-less bread board. What you see is what you get, a bunch of short wires, less medium sized wires, and a great deal of long wires. My only problem with them is that I would have liked more blue, red and black wires; just so I could be obsessively tidy when plugging them into positive and negative lengths of my bread board.

So handy

I’m so sick of cutting wires to make jumpers. These are very clean and easy to insert thanks to the plastic ends– I don’t have to use needle nose pliers to insert them easily.
