Canon CLI-8 Color Ink Cartridge 4 Pack

If you own a Canon printer and are looking at this article, probabilities are you just got the “Waste ink absorber is full” error, or something similar, and have no idea what it is or what the printer expects you to do. Unfortunately, or fortunately, you are not the only one with this problem and there are ways to solve it. If you call Canon support, they will promptly tell you to fetch the printer for servicing, that doesn’t help, however, when you have a report or resumé to print by tomorrow.

Firstly, it might be indispensable to note that the waste ink absorber is a little pad that sits underneath the cartridge’s “home” position and collects any loose ink that may be on the cartridge. This prevents smudges, so it’s a good thing to have. Many ink jet printers have them, but as far as I know, only Canon PIXMA printers display an error when a sure internal counter proposes that the ink absorber may be full. If you’ve done a lot of printing, the ink absorber may actually be full and you might need to have it cleaned or substituted to make sure the best printing quality. However, if you haven’t printed that much or you have and you just need to print something right this minute, there is a way to reset the counter and stop the error from showing up again. Until the counter reaches a sure unknown point, that is, in which case you’ll have to repeat the procedure.

Unfortunately, the instructions for resetting the counter differ from printer to printer and again, as far as I may tell, are not brought up in the manual. People have been capable to figure out how to do it, however, and there are instructions online for some printers. Searching for your printer model and either “ink absorber” or “used ink tank” ought to provide you with a few links to check out. Almost all of them are beauteous easy to follow, even though contrived and not without apparent effort discoverable on your own. Once the counter is reset, you ought to be capable to print again.

If the ink absorber pad in your Canon is in truth full, you might want to replace it. Having it serviced is in general not a good option, since it will likely cost almost as much as the basi cost of the printer and is not covered underneath warranty, since it’s considered normal wear and tear and not a defect. Canon will, however, trade you a new ink absorber that shouldn’t be too hard to replace. The number to call, in the United States, is 732-521-7230, which is their New Jersey elements center. They are open Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 8:00pm EST and will have to be capable to trade you a replacement. You may likewise try to clean the ink absorber on your Canon without alternate using tissue to absorb as much ink from the absorber as you can.

5This set works with the Canon PIXMA MP530 as well
By Ralph Fontcuberta
Just an FYI; the ink set shown here (CLI-8BK, CLI-8M, CLI-8C, and CLI-8Y) likewise match what’s necessitated in the Canon PIXMA MP530, save for the Canon PGI-5BK 2PK (sold separately). (As of this writing, the MP530 is not listed in the compatible printer list, though the MP500 is. Considering how mixing up all this distinctively gets, I thought I’d mention it.)

Price is great; even better if you’re with Amazon Prime (free 2-day shipping and inexpensive for the length of one night shipping).

5Good price

To rectify an earlier reviewer, the bundling of these inks IS APPROPRIATE. I have a Canon Pixma MP830 and it uses the 4 CLI-8 cartridges along with the 5PGBK. You do not have to buy the bundle if your queer printer does not use the 5PGBK. Anyway, I checked all the major suppliers for authenti Canon cartridges (versus compatibles) and Amazon’s price beats them all, in particular with free shipping and no sales tax.

4Better price but not without complications.
By Samuel Chell
[Bordering on the ridiculous: 6/08 and Amazon is syndication this 4-color pack for two dollars less than the 3-color (which omits Black 8). I've already gathered 5 spare Black 8s from former 4-pack purchases.]

I’ve encountered that the inconvenience may outweigh the few dollars saved by purchasing the combining pack. My Cyan and Magenta cartridges lasted only 4 weeks and 6 weeks respectively while the others are still going. Purchasing more combining packs would have resulted in a backlog of unused ink. You might order the package now and then (I wish it included Black 5 ink), but given the staggered depletion of ink cartridges, it often times makes more sense to order the single cartridge. Moreover, the combining of Amazon’s one-click ordering and no-postage Prime membershp makes it no less practical for the buyer to order person cartridges as they expire (though I’m sure Amazon alternatively chooses to send out huge quantities in the same order).
