5Work very well
By NVR
I have a firewire 800 cable that came with my OWC external hard drive. It is very stiff and when I insert that into MBP 15 firewire port, it is basically bending at the joining place where I hookup this to Macbook pro. I thought of this cause problem with MBP in long run and looking for numerous sort of soft firewire cable.

3Works, but doesn’t connect snugly
By Travis Cobbs
First of all, I’ll get started by saying that the I haven’t had any reliability or data troubles with this cable at all. As far as I may tell, it does the occupation it’s supposed to.

Having said that, I have two complaints that fetch my rating down to three stars.

My introductory (and primary) complaint is that it doesn’t connect snugly. I’m using it on a laptop, and moving the laptop around may cause the cable to come out far sufficient for the connection to be lost. And I’m not talking when it comes to major shifts here; just having it connected while using the laptop in bed may on occasion result in a lost connection. The cable that came with my external drive had a metal jacket around the connection, and this problem never happened even once with that cable. If you plan to use this cable on a desktop computer, this probably won’t be a problem for you, but I’ve stopped using the cable wholly because of this.

The second complaint is that the Firewire logo is on the BOTTOM of the connector. Once you figure it out it’s not actually a huge deal, but that a manufacturer could do this in the original place doesn’t leave me sentiment very convinced in the product. Added to the primary problem, it seems to indicate a lack of thought being put into this cable’s design.

5Nice, flexible FW800 cable
By Kurtara
Having gotten tired of the stiff, bulky FW800 cables I was looking for something that looked nicer, was less bulky and was more flexible. This cable met the need perfectly. I don’t see any divergence in transfer speed from a 250 GB bus powered external hard drive from the bulkier supplied cable. I wish it was available in a 3 ft. version as the 6 ft. is unnecessarily long for my “on the road” use.
