Looks good, but fails at reception

I purchased this because I wanted to reduce the “overhead” on top of my car after almost breaking my stock antenna. (Did not know you have to “remove” it prior to going through car wash.) That being said, I thought perchance this antenna would add a nice lower profile sporty look to my Mazda 6s Wagon, and that it perfectly does. I closely wish it was a little bigger, because it does look cool, but it fails at it’s initial job, pulling in Radio stations.
The only stations this antenna pulls in WELL, (as in with the ST(ereo) indicator STAYING on,) are stations that I may pickup with no antenna up there at all. I’m actually convinced that the mounting screw is the antenna itself, and that this thing doesn’t do anything at all. Seriously just stick one of the screws from your zip lock baggy up there, and viola, same reception.
The only person I may commend this antenna for in GOOD FAITH, is someone who closely never listens to radio anyway. If you actually use your radio, stay away from it.

You may do better

In all honestness the antenna that Empire Racing sent me which is a VMS antenna is total crap.. I liked the look of it so I rigged it on my Mazda 3, but none of the fittings worked so I had to cut one.. The stock antenna gets a better reception as well.

Great substitute antenna

I’ve had another substitute antenna before which didn’t last at all so I was skeptical with regards to this purchase. I must say that this is a much superior grade product. I’ve installed it on my Mazda 3 and thence far it works very well. I’m very satisfied with this antenna.
