The Chrysler Town & Country was the last of five minivan models introduced by Chrysler, following two Dodge and two Plymouth models sold beginning in 1983. Though last, it isn’t least — the Chrysler Town & Country represents the most luxurious minivan sold by Chrysler.
Chrysler Competition
Over the years, Chrysler has seen it is sales eroded by upstart Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey minivans, vehicles which have been proven to be of better quality than the Chrysler. Still, the Town & Country has features not found in the contest including it is “Stow ‘n God” seating which drops seats into the floor of the van — an splendid way to get more cargo space when needed.
For 2011, the Town & Country and it is sibling, the Dodge Grand Caravan receive pleasure from makeovers, benefitting fresh exterior styling, an interior refresh and a new engine. Indeed, the 3.6-liter V-6 engine introduced in 2010 in the Jeep Grand Cherokee is finding it is way to the Town & Country, providing more power without sacrificing fuel economy. Paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, this engine is rated at 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
Standard safety instrumentation is generous and includes a blind spot selective information scheme and rear cross path detection. The seats are more comfortable and the third seat folds down with just one touch of a button. Storage capacity remains unchanged and the Chrysler proceeds with it is a good deal of storage compartments brought back.
High Tech
Techies will love the Town & County for it is dual DVD scheme that may play dissimilar media at the same time, a SIRIUS Backseat TV providing three channels of children’s programming and FLO TV featuring 20 channels of live programming; exclusive to Chrysler’s minivans. In addition, voice command functions for radio, iPod/mp3 players, phone, navigation and selective information aid to set the Chrysler Town & Country isolated from the competition.
A new instrument panel includes a new instrument cluster providing a steering wheel with intregrated controls of multiple vehicle functions including telephone, audio and cruise control. Seating surfaces have been bettered with better cloth and leathers used, soft touch materials are found allround the cabin and this minivan gains a new climate control system.
Windsor Built
Chrysler’s minivans have been built at the same Windsor, Ontario, plant since 1983, with more than 13 million models sold since then. The altered Chrysler Town & Country arrives in Chrysler showrooms before 2010 ends, supplying a great deal of updates to help keep it competitory and likeable in the minivan segment.
